Create Custom Gestures on a PC With High Sign

gestureCybernet was just lamenting the fact that mouse gesture applications seem to be a fairly niche space. StrokeIt, their ol’ standby, hasn’t seen updates in four years, which is like 28 web years. Then they found High Sign, an alpha bit of software that looks slick.

Gesture functions aren’t anything new, but I like how High Sign keeps gesture creation simple. They do this with three questions and dialog boxes for you to step through:

  1. What did you draw? This is where you create the actual gesture pattern.
  2. What application do you want to control? Here you pick any running application to assign your gesture to.
  3. What action do you want to perform? Select the action your custom gesture will kick off in the app.

Sounds pretty simple to me, but I can envision a powerful library of gestures using this tool. Again, this is an alpha release, so don’t expect it to be 100% rock solid just yet on your Windows PC or Tablet. Even so, the feedback on performance and functionality is pretty positive.
