This may not be important to those of you outside the U.S., but March Madness is upon us here in the states and it’s a big deal. Check that, it’s a MAJOR deal. The road to the Final Four in college basketball is a fun one and with so many games it’s hard for a die-hard fan to keep track of it all. CBS and the iPhone pair up to make that a lot easier and certainly a lot more fun than it has been in the past.
The March Madness on Demand (link opens in the iTunes App Store) is available for you fellow iPhone owners and while it’s not free, I ponied up the $4.99 right away. I may be an easy sell, but when I heard that I can get every single game of the tournament live on my iPhone, I was all in. The interface of the app is marvelous and a tribute to how the touch interface can be capitalized for use on the iPhone. You can tap any game on the Now Playing schedule and watch it live on the phone, provided you’re on Wi-Fi. Those outside the range of a hotspot can only get scores and highlights but we serious fans will make sure we don’t roam outside of Wi-Fi coverage.
You can get the complete tournament game schedule, access the brackets, check the up-to-the-minute scores and access game highlights from an easy to use menu at the bottom of the screen. I can’t stress how well done this app is from a user’s perspective. This is certainly not the only way to access the tournament on CBS, but it’s a darn good one. Let the games begin!
