Microsoft Implements Widgets For Windows Mobile 6.5

Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) has allowed widgets for its Windows Mobile 6.5 platform, so developers can now code in web languages (HTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript) and get access to flash and ActiveX controls on the device, like MediaPlayer. The end user will see the widget as a normal standalone app with its own start menu icon. The main result appears to be that applications will be easier to write, and therefore there should be more of them…maybe the OS can get its app numbers up past those for the iPhone again.
