BlackBerrys Gain Two More Streaming Radio Apps

blackberry_now_playingWith all of the iPhone 3.0 and Palm Pre talk, let’s send one out to the BlackBerry fans, shall we? Two new audio streaming services have made their way to the ‘Berry says Zatz Not Funny! Both are free, but only one is familiar to me because I use it on a daily basis. I’m talking about Pandora, the intelligent music platform that catalogs the DNA of songs and uses that database of info to ensure you only hear songs you like. I listen to Pandora all day in the home office and on my iPhone when I’m out, since it works surprisingly well on EDGE. Pandora is supported on the Curve, Bold and Pearl, but it varies by carrier, so check and see if your BlackBerry can use it. T-Mobile customers need not apply for some reason; sorry Om, your beloved new 8900 gets no official love here.

iheartradio is a second option available today, especially if you want traditional radio stations on your BlackBerry. The free software comes from and supports stations on the ClearChannel network and offers radio from 150 different channels across the U.S. iheartradio is supported on the same three models while Storm support is listed as coming soon.

ClearChannel also offers iPhone support for iheartradio, something I haven’t tried yet but will later today. Now if we could somehow get these streaming services to buffer on the iPhone, I’d be really happy. Slacker, a similar audio streaming service, lets you disconnect from their service but still listen due to buffered audio unless you’re using an iPhone.
