Mobile Content Bits: Sony Ericsson In U.S.; Thumbplay Partners; Fast Company Mobile; HipCricket

Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) in the U.S.: Sony Ericsson is betting on its Cybershot camera phones to boost the company’s popularity in the U.S., and said it plans to launch its C905 8 megapixel camera phone in the second quarter, reports Reuters. Jon Mulder, the company’s head of product marketing for North America, said: “We know that this device is going to be relevant to consumers in the second half.” The device will either launch with AT&T (NYSE: T) or T-Mobile USA and will cost between $200 and $250 including a subsidy.

Thumbplay partners with ARTISTdirect Internet Group: Thumbplay said today that it is partnering with ARTISTdirect.com to provide visitors to the site access to Thumbplay’s catalog of mobile content, including ringtones. ARTISTdirect has a free music catalog that includes more than 10,000 music videos and 7 million albums and tracks, as well as behind-the-scenes interviews, reviews and exclusive artist content.

Fast Company Goes Mobile With Crisp: Crisp Wireless said today it has helped Fast Company launch its first mobile site at South by Southwest Interactive Festival. Created and hosted by Crisp Wireless, the mobile site is accessible at http://m.fastcompany.com. The site will have articles, news and analysis, which readers can easily share with others. Crisp will also serve banner ads, photo gallery, and interstitial ads.

HipCricket expands to Mexico: HipCricket, which which works with mobile operators, brands and broadcast stations to market on mobile, said it is expanding internationally to Mexico. The Kirkland, Wash.-based company is teaming up with Mexican investors and former telecom and media execs Pablo Peralta and Enrique Lopez-Negrete in order to accomplish the expansion. Called HipCricket de Mexico, it will target the nearly 78 million mobile subscribers in Mexico.
