Rajrishi Singhal, executive editor at The Times of India, who writes the Monday Mocha column in The Economic Times, is leaving publisher Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd after a 15-year stint to head up research at Dhanalakshmi Bank, according to our sources. Singhal was the top editor at ET with the rank of associate editor between 2004 and 2006. In early 2006, current editor Rahul Joshi took over as executive editor and Singhal became consulting editor at ET. Singhal became editorial advisor to the group with the rank of executive editor in November 2008 with the mandate of heading Times Business. Apart from the Monday Mocha column, he also writes a fortnightly oped for the ET edit page. Singhal was also supposed to be the in-house, on-air expert on banking and finance for ET NOW, BCCL’s upcoming business news channel. Singhal declined comment.
Singhal joined BCCL as banking editor of The Economic Times in 1994, prior to which, he was corporate editor at Business Today. He holds a masters in Economics from Jadavpur University.
