With all of the recent buzz about Windows Mobile 6.5, due out sometime this year, Microsoft forgot to tell anybody about the native support for widgets. Widgets are those little utility gadgets like weather apps that can be put on the screen as desired.
A user playing with a pre-release version of WM 6.5 has discovered the widget support that is built into the OS. The widgets use the same rendering engine as the new web browser and can be run from the Start Menu without the need for a dedicated widget app. These widgets apparently use HTML and JavaScript, making them sound a lot like the Palm Pre apps. You’d think Microsoft would be letting people know about something so new.
