Industry Moves: Thumbplay Loses Two C-Level Execs, Bilman And Thorsvelt

imageThumbplay, the New York-based mobile content company, confirmed today that two c-level executives are leaving the company. This closely follows the departure of Mitch Rotter, Thumbplay’s SVP of content acquisition and strategy, who left in January to become the VP of marketing at Universal Music Group Distribution.

A spokeswoman confirmed today that Joe Bilman, the company’s chief product officer, and CTO Markus Thorsvelt, are leaving. She said that all of the departures are for completely different reasons. Bilman is launching his own consulting firm, while Thorsvelt, who is originally from Sweden, is moving back for personal reasons. The spokeswoman said they continue to hire and the company has a major consumer initiative launching in the first half of the year. No replacements are expected to be hired for either position, but Lasse Hamre, SVP of technology, and Andre Bertrand, SVP of product operations, are expected to take over their day-to-day responsibilities.
