BlackBerry Bold Sales Halted In Japan Due To Overheating

Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) is not the only smartphone manufacturer having trouble in Japan — DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) has halted sales of RIM’s BlackBerry Bold because “the phone can overheat while the battery is being recharged” reports Reuters. DoCoMo has sold about 4,000 Bold handsets, and about 30 users have complained about the phone’s keyboard heating up. RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) stated that: “This issue appears to be specifically limited to the BlackBerry Bold devices sold in Japan since last week and sales of BlackBerry Bold devices in other countries are unaffected by this matter”. It also ruled out the battery as the problem, and said it is investigating the matter (I assume starting with the electricity standard).
