– Johnston Press: The latest newspaper group to improve its video content is Johnston Press which is rolling out ad-supported video across its 323 websites in partnership with video platform Brightcove. Johnston says it has invest a seven-figure sum over the last two years in readying all its newsrooms for video journalism and Brightcove will ease the uploading, distribution and monetization of the clips with its network of partners. No word on when the deal goes live other than “later this year”. Release.
— German IPTV: As the BBC unveils plans to transform British IPTV, the German IPTV market is expected to grow to five million users by 2013, according to a study by consultants Detecon International. Via Telecompaper.com.
— Sky.com: BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) has added social networking community to its games.sky.com site, a mixture of 100 free casual java and flash games and 180 paid-for premium titles. The site went live in 2007 and is produced by Oberon Media. Release.
— Ebay: For the few people that are looking to buy houses at the moment, they may soon be able to do so via Ebay.co.uk which is reportedly in “advanced talks” with property site Propertyindex.com to create a UK home sales channel. — Metacafe: Video portal Metacafe.com is planning to launch on IPTV and mobile platforms this year, in a bid to increase the 2.5 million unique users it got in December last year — the site hopes to have 200,000 viewers via IPTV by the end of the year . — Mail Online: There aren’t many services that people will pay for on newspaper websites, but dating is one of them — so Mail Online has launched its own online dating service. The service was developed in-house but some of the content is copyrighted by e-commerce firm Quickheart. From Media Week.
