– Mission Impossible, Samsung? Samsung has signed a deal with Paramount Digital Entertainment to package the three Mission Impossible films with new Samsung Delve phones bought from Alltel (NYSE: AT). The trilogy will be on microSD cards; buyers will receive a mail-in redemption card they’ll have to send in to get the microSD card “within four to six weeks”, reports RCR Wireless. At first I thought “what a pointless delay, Samsung should get the content there when the purchase is fresh and people are excited”, but then I thought that getting a reminder about the phones capabilities in the mail after a month or so might get people back to using the features.
— Florida AG Settles For Another $1M: Florida’s Attorney General has settled with another mobile content maker over mobile content marketing practices, netting $1 million from Atrinsic (a JV of New Motion (OTCBB: NWMO) and Traffix), which joins the list of companies that have settled including AzoogleAds, AT&T (NYSE: T), World Ave. and M-Qube. Atrinsic works with affiliates and ad networks to provide content for cell phones. The company’s negotiated deal with the AG protects it from prosecution, in exchange it has agreed to disclose the real costs of mobile content offers in an obvious way on all online transaction screens reports Clickz.
— Moko Launches On Reliance: Moko has signed a deal with Indian telco Reliance to put its mobile chat and social network on the carrier’s network. It will be integrated into Reliance’s billing and MMS services and featured on the carrier’s deck. It will be localised for India, and feature key cricketing identities to provide unique content, and participate in competitions. It’s Moko’s first Indian carrier deal and largest single-carrier deal, after signing a multi-country deal with America Movil.
— Telstra Plans Apps Store: Telstra has apparently learned from Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) and plans to launch an application store, or something like it. “Yep, we want to do that,” Fielding says. “Our strategy is always to make sure that we invest in our Big Pond asset. You’ll start to see some pretty clever stuff happening in devices. I don’t know if we’ll call it the Telstra apps store, but it’ll be one-click, pretty simple to use,” reports Australian IT.
