Fox Sports keeps its spot as the exclusive sports provider on MSN in a multi-year renewal and expansion of the original 2005 deal when FoxSports.com took ESPN’s place as the Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) portal’s sports anchor. FoxSports.com claims more than 15 million uniques. Powered by Fox Sports Interactive, a division of Fox Interactive Media (NYSE: NWS), the site will continue to known as FoxSports.com on MSN with a url of msn.foxsports.com; MSN gets branding on the site and TV broadcasts. The expansion includes:
— the inclusion of FSI’s Scout Media and WhatifSports.com brands
— more sales collaboration and FSI will “leverage” Microsoft’s ad platform. (Not a clue yet what that means but will let you know as soon as we do. Update: Fox says no specifics yet.)
— “a more integrated approach to investments in product development for both online and mobile platforms.”
— FSI will use “emerging technologies” from Windows Live and Live Search.
