Mobile Content Bits: WSJ In Europe, Asia; E! On Hub; Terra TV

imageWSJ expands global mobile efforts: The Wall Street Journal has expanded its websites in Europe and Asia, and as part of that has launched the WSJ.com Mobile Reader in Europe and Asia, with region specific content tabs and related markets settings. The mobile app provides content from WSJ.com, MarketWatch.com, Barrons.com and AllThingsD.com to most Blackberry handsets. The Asian version will include content in traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese, along with a separate tab for India and a “My Stocks” tab that users can customize with their own stocks. The reader is free, and the subscription content is free for a limited time. (release)

E! On Hub: E! Entertainment has launched an E! video channel on Verizon Hub — it already has one on Vcast. A lot of the content on Hub is such that it seems reasonable — navigation or cooking instructions, for example, but I’m not sure there’s much call for entertainment on a small screen in a place likely to have devices far better for watching it. Still, I don’t suppose it can hurt, and viewing stats will be interesting. (release)

Terra TV goes mobile in Americas: Terra.com and Terra TV has launched a service for the iPhone in the US and Latin America, offering the news, sports and entertainment. It will include special videos on Carnival and European football championships, as well as content from Reuters. “IPhone users in Latin America surf three times more than those with ordinary mobile phones, and they tend to be most interested in sports and news,” said Fernando Madeira, CEO of Terra Latin America. PhotoCanvas For IPhone: Big Canvas has launched PhotoCanvas, an iPhone app that lets people alter and personlize images to share with family and friends through “visual conversations”, like social networking via sharing photos.
