Mobile Content Bits: GetJar Gets Ads; Bebo Open Mobile; NewBay Albums

GetJar adds ads: GetJar has started giving developers, who distribute their mobile applications through their online store, the ability to integrate advertising. Interestingly enough, GetJar has found that the most active advertisers are other developers who want consumers to also download their applications. GetJar said it was also integrating with mobile ad networks, but said it could not disclose which ones. GetJar also has a service for developers to get more downloads by paying for better placement. The GetJar Pay Per Download service allows mobile developers to bid for downloads starting at 1 cent each.

Bebo launches Open Mobile: Bebo has launched an open mobile program, which will offer handset makers, software developers and operators, a suite of tools to provide their customers access to the Bebo social network. Already available are: mobile advertising support and enhanced statistics; Bebo messaging toolkit; and Bebo APIs, which allow partners to create applications and widgets.

NewBay release fourth version of multimedia album: NewBay, which provides social networking infrastructure and other features for operators, has released the fourth version of LifeCache Photo & Video Album, a way for wireless subscribers to maintain online photo and video albums. The new version includes advanced video editing; geotagging and third-party developer features. The new video editing features allows subscribers to trim, splice and add transitions and add special effects and music.
