UPDATE: HP Mini 1100 surfaces- with the ExpressCard slot

hp-mini-1000s1I am enjoying playing with the HP Mini 2140 netbook.  It is very similar to the consumer targeted Mini 1000 with the exception of the ExpressCard slot that the enterprise focused 2140 brings.  Engadget is reporting that an updated model, the Mini 1100, adds the ExpressCard slot to the consumer version.

This would be good news for those who are using ExpressCard 3G modems for WWAN support and while HP hasn’t officially said anything about this Mini 1100 there are a number of models that have the spec pages on the HP web site.  This is a great addition to an already good netbook, depending on price of course.

UPDATE: Liliputing is reporting that HP has indicated their web site is in error.  The 1100 series of the Mini are simply different SKUs and none of them have an ExpressCard slot as they originally indicated.  Too bad.
