Report: U.S. Mobile Revenues To Increase 3.9 Percent In 2009

Despite the economic outlook, the number of U.S. cellular subscribers will still grow by 16 million this year, reports Strategy Analytics. Likewise, service revenues are also expected to increase by 3.9 percent this year, although that represents a drop compared to the 7.5 percent jump last year. Overall average revenue per users are predicted to dip, while spending on data will increase as people adopt smartphones and flat-rate data plans. The carriers expected to do well, are all-you-can-eat operators, like MetroPCS and Leap Wireless, while that may hurt T-Mobile USA. Sprint (NYSE: S) also will continue to struggle.
