– Connect2Media: Manchester, UK-based mobile content producer and distributor Connect2Media has signed a deal with games developer Two Way Media to convert a popular word game from UK IPTV platforms to mobile phones as a paid-for download. String ‘em in is available on Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED) and Sky TV services and is set to launch as a Facebook app this year and Connect2Media will oversee its global mobile distribution as part of the company’s on-going plans to grow its mobile games sales.
— Novarra relaunches browser on US Cellular: Novarra said they are rolling out a new browser solution for regional carrier, US Cellular. The service, called Novarra’s Vision Browser solution, has gained significant traction over the past year, with users more than doubling, and page views more than tripling. The new browser, which supports Flash and javascript, includes such features as Zoom, Snapshot, and Password Manager. A dashboard offers access to a number of commonly visited websites, featured partner content and user personalization. Release.
— GPS-enabled handsets to grow in 2009: GPS-enabled mobile phones will be hit by the economy in 2009, however, they’ll still post annual growth, according to ABI Research. While global handset shipments are expected to drop by 4 to 5 percent in 2009, GPS-enabled phones will climb to 240 million units, an increase of 6.4 percent compared to the prior year.
— Windows Mobile 6.5 coming in mid-2009: In addition to the rumored set of mobile services that Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) is expected to announce as soon as Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, DigiTimes is reporting, based on sources at Taiwanese handset manufacturers, that its Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system will become available to handset makers in mid-2009.
