Broadband Content Bits: BBC Doing Widgets, Skins Via IM, Dailymotion

BBC: Auntie enlisted Virginia-based widget maker ClearSpring to widgetise its content, launching bbc.co.uk/widgets/. Only a mere four widgets are available so far – for iPlayer, Radio 1, Five Live and World On The Move. The BBC wants to let fans embed them on their own sites any of 29 supported platforms including Facebook and WordPress.

Skins: Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) is teaming up with Channel 4 to promote the new season of the debauched teen drama, which first found fame on MySpace. While the show goes out on Thursday at 10pm, Windows Live Messenger will “fire out messages to you with loads of extra info on the action taking place on your telly box” including bonus videos and details of music tracks played in the show. Unlike most branded schemes, there’s no downloading: fans can just add skinsmessenger@e4.com as MSN friend. Release.

Dailymotion: Film-fan French video-sharing site Dailymotion is helping to promote British gangster film Clubbed with an official branded page showing clips, trailers and interviews with the cast. The Raindance Award-shortlisted film came out on Friday. Via Netimperative.com.
