— PunditIt.com: Last week, Hubdub.com scooped up £810,000 in VC seed funding. Now there’s a new website encouraging people to share their news predictions. PunditIt.com, focusing on sports, lets users rate the credibility of news stories and columnists’ predictions and much like Newscred.com, stories are rated according to users’ voting. A job ad for a flash designer describes the site as “a digg.com clone based around UK sports”. The people behind the site are Fraser Smeaton, who previously worked in marketing for BT (NYSE: BT) and Mars, and Gregor McLaren, who also worked in marketing and played on Scotland’s national team as a youth player. Release.
— BrandRepublic.com: Haymarket-owned BrandRepublic.com, the online sister title to Media Week and NMA, has launched a blog covering the worlds of celebrities and marketing, the first in a series of new blogs covering the marketing and advertising industries. CelebritySellout will cover famous people and the various endorsements and sponsorship deals they sign and promises a “lighter tone” than that found on BrandRepublic, though it will be written by the same staff. Its editor Gordon MacMillan said via Twitter recently that in its latest ABCe figure, BrandRepublic posted 689,480 unique users and 3.5 million page impressions. From BrandRepublic.com.
