News International: Six months after effectively shutting down its magazines division, News International has sold the remnants, essentially glossy women’s mag Love it, to German-owned publisher Hubert Burda Media. The terms weren’t disclosed, but three years after launching News Magazines, News International will be glad to put the episode behind it: In its last financial year the division had a loss of almost £10 million. Northcliffe: DMGT’s local newspaper business is is considering outsourcing 40 advertising jobs, a large proportion of its national sales department, to the Mediaforce agency, which also represents Johnston Press. There will be could be some “unavoidable long-term displacements” as a result, but all 40 will be found jobs within the company for the time being. Display advertising will be outsourced but Northcliffe will still look after its classified ads. David Roddick, Northcliffe Media’s commercial director, told us that the move was designed to drive revenues on a more sustainable cost base. UPDATED.

City AM: Free financial daily newspaper City AM has put plans to expand outside of London on hold due to the economic outlook. Launched as a London-only title in 2005, the paper is inching towards profitably and in October announced it would distribute a combined 17,000 copies in Manchester and Edinburgh from next year.
