Pogue’s tips for basic computer users is the bomb

Wow_115cI follow everything that David Pogue writes for the New York Times as I like his style and he knows his stuff.  A recent article he posted offers Tech Tips for the Basic Computer User and while intended for newbies as indicated in the title I think everyone would benefit from reading it through.  He has included a lot of very useful tidbits that make computing easier and just about everyone will find at least one tip that is new.  My favorites:

  • You can tap the Space bar to scroll down on a Web page one screenful. Add the Shift key to scroll back up.
  • You can double-click a word to highlight it in any document, e-mail or Web page.

Pass this link on to those who need it, you’d be surprised how many folks are amazed when I show them the double-click on a word tip.
