First look at Intel Classmate Netvertible

2goleadIntel’s Classmate program is sort of like the One Laptop Per Child program except without the actual program.  Their super-cheap Classmate "netbook" design is intended to provide educators with a cheap platform to get kids online and studying hard.  Because we all know that’s what kids do online is study, right?

Laptop Magazine has an early look at a prototype, and we do mean early prototype, of the CTL 2go which is a swivel-screen touchscreen "netvertible".  The little laptop is designed to be cheap and sturdy and the touchscreen capabilities are to approximate a Tablet PC experience.  Approximate is the key word here since the model they reviewed does not have the Windows XP Tablet Edition so none of the tablet bits are enabled.  That makes the 2go Tablet simply a touchscreen laptop with a swivel screen and I’m not sure what the point is.  It’s a nice concept for the education sector however and Laptop has done their typical good job showing off this little beast.
