German publisher Holtzbrinck’s digital VC arm Holtzbrinck Ventures is funding local UGC restaurant reviews site Restaurant-Kritik.de, Deutsche Startups reports. Launched in 2004 and directed by Carsten Jutzi, the site has 84,000 restaurants, nearly 74,000 ratings and claims 796,905 monthly visits. The Oberursel-based site will get a light touch from the investor, which also backed Kyte, Seatwave and others. Restaurant-Kritic.de is just one of a wave of urban user-reviews sites, which in the UK includes Qype, TrustedPlaces, GCap acquisition WeLoveLocal, TouchLocal and Tipped.
