That may sound like only common sense and I have lived by this rule without exception but Dwight Silverman of TechBlog didn’t. He upgraded his wife’s Blackjack II with a new firmware, rather he tried to upgrade it. He got the dreaded hang during the firmware upgrade and then got to experience the lovely call to tech support. You know you’re in trouble when the solution is to send you a box to return the phone for repairs. So Dwight learned the lesson in the title and he also learned something else. Never, ever attempt to do this with your spouse watching over your shoulder. No way to put a spin on things that way.
