HFCL Infotel, part of the telecom equipment manufacturer, HFCL Group, has stated it will roll out its IPTV services in Punjab in the next three months. HFCL Infotel COO, GD Singh, states they aim to have a subscriber base of 20,000 in the first phase and has tied up with a local ISP called Smart Broadband for the infrastructure. For the sake of parity, MTNL’s IPTV service has managed to garner 10,000 subscribers over an arduous two years. HFCL already runs a mobile service called Ping in the territory and the firm hopes to launch its GSM services in the state in the next financial year.
