United Business Media (LSE: UBM) is buying Cambridge, Massachusetts, telecoms research outfit Pyramid Research for $8 million to put with its TechWeb business. Pyramid takes quantitative research from 70 countries and packages its research for carriers and others in the telco chain, most notably those in emerging markets. UBM said Pyramid would complement its existing Heavy Reading site, another telco research provider, and would “provide a platform for its internationalisation”. Pyramid also has offices in London, Hong Kong, Miami and Seattle and had 2007 revenue of $7.6 million. Research.
