Late yesterday came word that Apple had released version 2.0.1 for the iPhone/ iPod Touch through the iTunes update mechanism. I plugged in my iPhone 3G and it showed no update but when I pushed the Update button in iTunes it found it right away. The update took about 20 minutes to download and apply via iTunes and the firmware of the iPhone was updated in short order with no issues. I have used the iPhone and so far it seems that some tasks that were a little show before the update seem to be happening faster now. The good news is the iPhone hasn’t had an app crash once since the update which I hope is indicative of the "bug fixes" which is about all that Apple claims this update applies.
