In keeping with today’s "netbooks are too expensive" meme comes word today that Lenovo is shipping the 3000 G in Malaysia. The 3000 G is nothing new and nothing to write home about from a spec standpoint with a 1.86 GHz Core Duo processor, DVD burner, 2 GB of RAM and a 160 GB hard drive. The device has a 15-inch screen and looks pretty heavy and bulky on top of that but what gets our attention is the price of $613. This puts it firmly in competition with a lot of netbooks like the MSI Wind and if size and weight are not that important the similar price gets you a lot more notebook power. This is what we keep harping on, OEMs making mini-notebooks better pay attention here. We’ll buy the powerhouse every time for the same bucks. Lenovo sells the 3000 G online for a lot more money so this price is interesting to say the least.
