Coast-to-Coast Craigslist Tour of Web Shows

Want to know what the next next hot web show will be? So do we, which is why we scoured Craigslist “gigs” sections to find out what was in production around the country. What did we discover? As you’d expect, New York and L.A. had the most options for aspiring web stars — just don’t expect to pay rent with what you make (unless your landlord accepts “bupkiss”).

Some of these opportunities may have already passed (lesson: always check Craigslist), but I doubt any web production would turn down free work if you wanted to help out.

SAN FRANCISCO

Looks like Break a Leg better watch out, it’s got some Arrested Development-inspired competition in the works:

New comedic web series to be shot in San Francisco seeks additional actors for guest starring and series regular roles…

The style of the show will be somewhere between “Arrested Development” and “Sex and the City”; it follows a small group of twenty-somethings through some of the trials and tribulations of trying to balance various romantic opportunities and advenures as their lives unfold.

LOS ANGELES

Hollywood is host to a ton of web series, and they are looking for guys:

Hey guys; we need older high school or younger college-age looking guys for a up and coming sports-themed webisode series! And unlike most of these web series…ours pays the extras!

The shoot will only take about four hours, this Saturday the 19th. Guys, you’ll be in a locker room setting; you will probably have to take off your shirt so you have to be okay with that (it’s no big whoop lol~~). No other nudity though; it’s rated PG at best! So if you want to make $75 and have a few hours available on Saturday, this may be the gig for you. Other scenes will be shot next week, so stay tuned. For now, please only submit for this particular scene.

Please send: headshot and/or bodyshot. If you want to send a shirtless shot that’s fine, it’ll help us in casting. Other than that, take care–

girls:

Looking for girls for a PG-13 comedy web series.

The show is mostly improved. Strong Improv skills. there are no scripted lines.

Looking for young women, Must be comfortable with being in a swimsuit and/or sexy outfits. Looking for people who are not uptight and like to have fun.

…and twins!

Hello to all the twins out there! We’re doing a new cool and very creative web/tv series for all to see around the world and pitching to TV after we see the traffic it generates. Experienced producer, director with great credits and always doing other projects you may also be right for.

If you want great free exposure and material for your reels then here it is. You don’t have to be actors or models, just twins (or more) that look very similar to each other. Even if you don’t usually look the same but can look the same for one day that’s all we need;)

Age is no matter, just send pics of both of you, face and full length. Anything that shows you looking similar is good.

NEW YORK

Tuck that acting resume away in the Big Apple, they’re looking for a lot of crew folk to work…for free.

Shoot a mystery:

We are looking for DPs for our ongoing webseries, “The 47th Floor.” We are a Screen Acting School affiliated with NYU Undergraduate Drama.

We produce a weekly mystery/drama series starring our actors. This is a great opportunity with little time commitment. Not necessarily looking for those to commit to entire shoot, mostly part-time commitment.

No pay.

(Here’s a sample episode)

Feeling musical? Compose a score for a clash of cultures:

A composer is needed to score a new web series shooting this summer. The episodes are going to be 11 minutes long and are in need of a theme song, transition music, and even possibly some background music. We don’t have any budget to speak of at the moment so this would be on a no-pay basis but you will of course get credit for your work.

It’s an asian-american themed show and would like the style to reflect a sort of “clash” between the two cultures.

Or you can make your mom proud by starring as “Emma Colon” in a Two Girls One Cup spoof:

Ed Druckman is a bi weekly web series on all thing “not fit for print.” Reporting on internet phenomenons, strange hobbies, and the general insanity that plagues the United States. This spoof episode interviews the girl who was supposed to play one of the female leads in “Two Girls One Cup” video but was sadly unable to “perform” the day of.

ABSOLUTELY NO NUDITY OR SEX

NO PAY – copy will be provided

Casting:
Emma Colon – female – 18-26, small of stature, kind of sweet looking, until she opens her mouth.

AUSTIN

Leave it the most cinematic town in Texas to have the most interesting web series in production.

If you can do horror FX, then there’s a show waiting for you (they’ll even work around your schedule):

Independent production company seeks a make-up artist who can do zombie and wound make-up for an original web series pilot. We are looking for an energetic person who likes zombies! We’ll plan the filming around your schedule, and will only require a couple half-days of work. Please email with a brief description of your experience and portfolio if available.

And if you’ve always wanted to hit a sock hop, you can join this production:

CounterClockWork Films is shooting a new web series and we need some women to do a 50’s dance scene. It will be on Thursday June 26th. It will take 2 hours at the most. It is a non paid gig, but a good chance to get involved with our production company that has many projects coming up in the future.

Also we would need you to have a 50’s costume, like a poodle skirt type outfit. Doesn’t have to be a poodle skirt, but something in the 50’s era.

Carry on, you web show upstarts, and be sure to submit your finished shows to NewTeeVee Station!
