Sanjoy Narayan To Join As Hindustan Times Editor

Sanjoy Narayan, the Editor of Business Today magazine and Chief Operating Officer of India Today Digital (which includes the entire online operations of the group), has quit. Narayan is taking over as the Editor-in-Chief of Hindustan Times, a leading national English daily. Narayan has spent about a decade in the India Today Group. He took over as the Editor of Business Today in 2000. He started looking after the online operations of the India Today Group sometime last year as COO. All the group websites were relaunched under him. It’s likely Narayan will have a say in hindustantimes.com too as he assumes his new role. There is no official word on it though…

Narayan succeeds Chaitanya Kalbag (former editor of Reuters Asia) who quit as editor of Hindustan Times in July last year. HT was without a full time editor since then, however filled in by Pankaj Paul as the managing editor (who quit early this month to go back to the US). Our sources suggest that Narayan will be assisted by Samar Harlankar as Managing Editor. He is currently the Mumbai Resident Editor of HT.
