Following Microsoft’s (NSDQ: MSFT) acquisition of Powerset, here’s more money for semantic search… Cognition Technologies, a developer of technology for the space, has raised a $2.7 million round from Draper Associates, Fingerhut Ventures, and the company’s CEO Scott Jarus, according to VentureBeat. The Culver City, CA-based company has raised a total of $6 million. The company isn’t trying to build its own search engine, rather it hopes to license its technology to others. Powerset was trying to build its own search engine, though in the end it too was just sold for its technology, not for anything it had gained market-wise.
