Orange County Register To Outsource Editing Work To India

More dollar love for India as copy editing duties for some stories published in the Orange County Register and page layout for a community newspaper owned by Orange County Register Communications, the company that holds the Pulitzer Prize winning daily, will be outsourced to India.

OCRC will begin a one-month trial with Mindworks Global Media at the end of June, reports AP. Drop in newspaper circulation numbers globally has hit many in the content industry overseas, OCRC has been through three rounds of layoffs in the past year with 90 employees losing their jobs. Other newspapers, including The Miami Herald, Sacramento Bee and Pasadena Now, have outsourced work to India as well. More recently, Reuters opened a Bangalore bureau to cover U.S. financial markets.
