Second Gear’s compressed user interface for OS X tasks and events, Today, is getting ready to release version 1.2. (You can download the beta and give it a 10-day spin for free). While the improvements are incremental, they’re certainly useful – especially double-clicking tasks and events to open them in iCal.
Because it uses the iCal storage engine, along with a lot of other OS X applications, Today can also be integrated with programs beyond iCal. For example, they’ve documented how to use Today with OmniFocus. I think of Today as sort of a “heads up display” for what’s going on in my more fullblown tracking applications. The price remains unchanged at $15.
