PrimoOnline Makes PDFs

ScreenshotPrimoPDF, makers of a free PDF utility for Windows, have launched PrimoOnline. As the name might tell you, it’s a service for automatically making PDF files from Microsoft Office documents, Visio, ODF, HTML, graphics files, or a variety of other things. Enter your email address, upload a file, and you get the PDF back via mail. There’s a 5MB per file limit. I tested the service and it seems to work well and quickly.

Compared with the other service I’ve used for this, PDF Converter, PrimoOnline offers fewer features (for example, PDF Converter can do PDF to Word or Excel, as well as Web to PDF). But the two services have different inputs they can handle. For example, PrimoOnline counts XML and XPM as supported formats, while PDF Converter can take in WQ1. If you need to work with a variety of file types, it’s a good idea to bookmark both.
