Tired of looking at a small screen all day? Optoma’s handheld DLP projector might be just the ticket when it arrives later this year in Europe and Asia. The four-ounce device is based on a Texas Intstruments DLP Pico chip and LED lighting. You simply plug this display in to your device, find a blank wall and the project your screen at up to 100 times the size. There aren’t many details on what connection types the Pico Projector will support, but I’d have to guess either VGA-out, USB or perhaps both as I can only see an AV IN jack from the photo.
Optoma says this is designed for "ultra-portable media devices such as iPodsĀ®, PDA’s, smart phones and digital cameras." so we’ll have to see how they plan to do that. Hmm… I used to see folks in Starbucks find seats near electrical outlets. Does this mean the new "hot spot" will be across from the biggest wall in the place?
