I’m not sure I need a Terabyte of external storage for my mobile devices, but if I did, the new Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition would be a contender. For $289.99, you not only get more capacity than you can shake a stick at, but Western Digital added in a feature I really like: you can use this drive in a RAID 1 configuration. No, I don’t mean you can spray wasps, hornets and ants with it; the USB 2.0 device is pre-configured to mirror your data across two drives. That means you’ve got two copies of everything; handy for a case when a single drive fails. Full file redundancy is nice, but don’t forget that it comes at a cost: you’ll cut your total storage capacity in half for this feature. If you need a full Terabyte of mirrored storage, you’ll want to step up to the 2 TB model at $549.99 or re-configure the drive for no mirror.
