Enhancing Drag in Firefox

ScreenshotIf you’re constantly looking to work even faster on the web, take a look at some of the drag-and-drop extensions to Firefox. The one I like (and have installed) is QuickDrag. With QuickDrag, you can highlight any text and drag it slightly to have a new search tab open with that text as the search term. Highlight an image and give it a quick flick and it downloads to your desktop. (You can also use QuickDrag to open links in new tabs, though I prefer the middle mouse button for that).

There are a couple of alternatives to QuickDrag that build in even more dragging tools. Easy Drag to Go gives you more extensive control over what a drag operation does, and allows different functions for dragging in different directions. Drag & DropZone Searching lets you set up different drop zones so that dragged text invokes different search engines. Any of these will give you an easy way in to the efficiency of using gestures in your browser.
