Jenn has a small update on a Mobile Internet Device from Digifriends, although I suspect you won’t see the device until very late this year. The MID was shown off at CES and offers WiMAX connectivity in addition to standard WiFi and Bluetooth. It’s coming to the United States through Sprint and NextWave, and while it will surely work fine on WiFi, it’s the WiMAX that makes it more mobile. With no nationwide Sprint Clearwire WiMAX network in sight, I gather that there’s a very limited market for a device like this at the moment, but we’ll see.
A couple of specs jump out at me on the Digifriends M3 MID. The 4.8-inch touchscreen offers a screen resolution of 1024 x 600, which might be too high for many folks running Windows. That brings me to my next point: with a single Gigabyte of RAM and a 1.2 GHz Atom (Silverthorne), I don’t think there will be a great demand to run Vista, one of the supported operating systems listed. XP and Linux are also options. No word on pricing just yet…
