Mobile Messenger Yap Raises $6.5 Million First Round

Yap, a service that lets users send text messages via voice, has raised a $6.5 million first round from SunBridge Partners, the round also features participation by Harbert Venture Partners, Pittco Capital Partners, and various individual backers. The Charlotte, NC-based company touts the fact that it’s safe when driving, and it has developed an application that allows for voice-based search and social networking updates. The service is all automated, with no human intervention. Release.
