SpiralFrog, the ad-funded free music and video download site, has signed a distribution deal with UK-based label EMI, giving it access to the content of two of the four major US labels, reports AP. It signed a similar licensing agreement with Universal Music Group before it launched last September. Together, the two music labels account for 39.9 percent of album sales in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The company, which needs as much content as it can to create the size of audience advertisers would consider appealing, has been pounding away to sign labels to their service.
