Industry Moves: Former SheKnows’ CEO Meyers To Head New Glam Channel; Acquisition Binge Ahead?

Fashion and lifestyle media web publisher Glam Media has tapped Mike Meyers, president and CEO of similarly focused site, to serve as VP & GM of the company’s new channel Glam Family. The new family vertical site will launch sometime in Q3, with a focus on all things parenting, pregnancy and baby-related — areas that have been a particular focus of SheKnows’ recent string of acquisitions, which this month included the additions of sites like ChefMom, and Over at SheKnows, the company has no plans to replace Meyers directly; instead, Kyle Cox, one of the site’s original founders, has been put in charge of managing the business. Since Meyers is coming from SheKnows, some of us can’t help but wonder: will Glam initiate a buying binge for Glam Family? (Meyers told us that he did not oversee the SheKnows’ recent merger activity, so probably not.) Samir Arora, Glam’s chairman and CEO, will be appearing this afternoon at paidContent parent ContentNext Media’s EconAds Seminar this afternoon, so we’ll be sure to ask him.

Joseph adds: This move is particularly rich in light of the way SheKnows has referred to networks like Glam in the past. Taken from an old acquisition release (.pdf): “Unlike some online distributed media networks that have cropped up in the marketplace within the last year or two and merely aggregate disparate unrelated websites, SheKnows is a legitimate branded destination which owns most and manages most all of its sub-properties.”
