Open Thread: Are You Happy with Your Mobile Carrier?

If you ask web workers what their most essential tools are, cell phones rank near the top of the list. We may work on the web, but we still need to speak to people who aren’t as connected as we are – and when we’re away from our computers, our phones serve as backup web browsers. But cell phones also seem to be the tool we most like to hate. Whether it’s lousy service or poor coverage area or messed-up billings, just about everyone seems to have a horror story.

With a choice of mobile carriers in most places, there often seems to be greener grass on the other side of the fence. Do you choose AT&T so you can get an iPhone? Verizon for their service area? Sprint because you like the underdog? Maybe you’re one of the folks who’ve switched carriers several times, looking for that promised land of great coverage and clear connections. But maybe we’re just not listening hard enough to hear the good side of things. Now’s your chance to tell us about your great mobile experience – or, if it comes to that, blow off a little steam. Which carrier are you using for your cell phone? How did you pick them? Are you happy with the results? We’d love to find out if there’s a secret to getting solid service, so we can switch too.
