Hearst Expands Text Services To Several Magazine Titles

Hearst Magazines is rolling out a number of text-messaging services to its magazine readers after their success in CosmoGIRL, where the services have been available since 2006. The titles which will now offer the services include Good Housekeeping, Redbook, O, The Oprah Magazine and Seventeen, and readers will be able to request samples and buy directly from the magazine, as well as participate in sweepstakes. The service is run by ShopText.

In one issue of CosmoGIRL last summer more than 100,000 sweepstake entries were sent via the ShopText service, and the magazine has delivered thousands of free samples with conversion rates as high as 94 percent.
