Remote Video Conferencing + Whiteboard = PalBee

One of the benefits of close proximity to your colleagues is face to face meetings to draft out an idea on a whiteboard. PalBee is a new web application that allows you to do this online.  Similar to Twiddla, but PalBee adds video conferencing.

The South Korea based company makes it possible to connect up to nine of your co-workers and draw notes on PowerPoint presentations, videos, and photos.  You can text chat as well.  The PalBee window features a video window with your participants in the upper left, the main content (PowerPoint or video) in the middle, and drawing tools on the right hand side.  A screenshot is available below.

PalBee can be exceptionally useful tool for distributed teams who need to collaborate around a PowerPoint presentation or other online media.  Chats and videos can be archived for future use.  The media file is kept on PalBee’s servers and in turn makes PalBee into a media-sharing site, with presentations available for future use.

Hopefully PalBee will build in the capability to access more media types inside its service such as Microsoft Office documents, images, and other visual media.

PalBee is currently free and available at their website.
