Viacom (NYSE: VIA) was a rarity in 2007: a major media company whose stock rose. It wasn’t by much, mind you — from $41.01 to $43.98 — but still impressive compared to its peers. For his first full year on the job, CEO Philippe Dauman, in the news today for a new studio JV, earned about $20.6 million in base salary and various equity grands, as calculated by WSJ.
