It was a litigious week in the Valley for cleantech. The electric car industry is straining between lawsuits, technical snafus, and corporate creativity. Right now the light at the end of the tunnel is the delivery of the next 299 Teslas by the end of the year. - Tesla’s Other Lawsuit: Transmission Troubles: The story started off that Tesla Motors has filed a lawsuit against Fisker Automotive alleging Fisker stole design idea for its own range-extended electric car. Digging around in the San Mateo Super Court database we found another lawsuit involving Tesla, but this time they were being sued by their original transmission engineers.
AltraBiofuels Spins Out Edeniq for Cellulosic, Led by Gross: We noticed there was a CEO shuffle going on at AltraBiofuels. Turns out the startup has spun out Edeniq to focus on cellulosic ethanol, leaving us to wonder what will become of the parent company.- Hyperion: Nuclear In A Box: Forget cold fusion in a jar, the future of portable nuclear is a reactor in a box. Hyperion got funding from the venture and private equity firm the Altira Group for just that.
