Alltel (NYSE: AT) has launched a service to let people automatically save the photos they take with certain handsets to their PC, e-mail address and web photo albums including Photobucket, Flickr, Blogger and Snapfish. The Photocopter service costs $2.99 a month for unlimited transfers which happen automatically — the release claims that “on a typical phone model, it requires 100 keystrokes to get ten pictures transferred to a PC”, and most people don’t transfer their photos because it’s too difficult. For Alltel it’s another data service it can provide to raise ARPU. (release)
