Control Vista’s Search Index with a Gadget

Gadget_2Folks that installed the new Windows Search 4.0 Preview we mentioned last month have a new tool available to them in Vista. It’s in the form of a Windows Sidebar Gadget and although not officially supported by Microsoft, I can see some use from this. The Indexer Status Gadget shows key info from the indexer that keeps track of all the little bits and pieces found in your Windows Search results. You can see the status of the indexer, how many files are indexed (for the morbidly curious) but best of all, you can control the indexing engine and its options without having to hit the Control Panel.(via Windows Experience Blog)
