India To Finally Get Wired

Well, Wired as in the magazine, and (unfortunately) not a growth in fixedline/broadband penetration. Conde Nast will launch the iconic Wired Magazine in India in 2009, Alex Kuruvilla, MD of Conde Nast India has told Agencyfaqs. Wired is a monthly magazine that focuses on the impact of technology on culture, and is edited by Chris Anderson, who wrote the often quoted “The Long Tail“. I know of people who buy Wired in India on a regular basis – maybe an Indian publication will make it more affordable. Will Wired India will have the same content as in the US, or will there be content around India as well? There’s an entire generation in this country that is growing up using technology in a manner that we can barely understand; it will be great for someone to look into the qualitative impact of the Internet, Mobile and technology.

I looked up the domain registration for Wired.in and Wired.co.in. Wired.in is registered by New York based Advance Magazine Publishers, the parent company of Conde Nast.
