The modern day work station is a mess of wires, cords, cables, extensions, connectors, adapters, and fiber, and all that spaghetti is leaching power a lot of the time, jacking up your electric bill and wasting energy. This is the problem that San Ramon, Calif.-based Green Plug is looking to address with their universal smart power hub. And they actually want to see the rat’s nest of cords you have growing under your desk.
Green Plug has launched a new photo competition called “What’s Under Your Desk?. Just snap a photo of your desk’s digital tethers and send it to the Green Plug folks here. You stand to win lunch in Beverly Hills with “green advocates” Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry, co-hosts of the VH-1 reality show, “My Fair Brady.” Yeah, talk about random. Second place gets a $500 gift certificate to Wal-Mart and third place will decide which green org will get $250 from Green Plug.
So start uploading! The above photo is a close up of the mess under this eco-blogger’s desk. Don’t worry, I turn that power strip off when ever I’m done to cut down on my parasitic load. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to get lunch with America’s Next Top Model.
